Start Solenoids


Start solenoids initiate the energy to start the electric motor for powering the liftgate.   Generally 3-post start solenoids are used for power up/gravity down lift gates.   4-post start solenoids are found on power up/power down lift gates.   Start solenoids may have a flat base to be mounted on the frame or a curved base to be mounted on the side of the 12 volt motor.   

Most liftgate start solenoids are intermittent duty and do not run continuously.   A few are continuous duty solenoids for ongoing applications.    Manufacturers include Trombetta and Ametek.
